What are some of your hobbies?
In my spare time I bake. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I created a small business where I sold cupcakes, cheesecakes, and other delicious desserts. I also love to read as many books as I can when I am not busy.

How has the scholars program you are a part of helped you?
The TTS Program has helped me to step out of my shell. I have come into my own when it comes to my academic success as well as my personal success. I speak up for myself more, take the initiative when it comes to school and work-related tasks. When I first transferred to Dominguez Hills the TTS Program immediately welcomed me with open arms. That stuck with me because I knew that I had a great support team in my corner. I can come to them (especially Sandra) when I’m in need of help no matter what it is.

What keeps you motivated and positive throughout life’s hardships?
Lately it has been taking time for myself and focusing on the beautiful things in my life. Doing this helps to change my outlook on what’s going on in my life. I also remind myself that whatever it is will be over soon I just have to fight through it.

What advice would you like to give to future scholars?
My advice to my fellow scholars is to step out of your box! Do not be afraid to ask questions, we have a huge support system that is here to help us on our academic journey. Most importantly, Self-Care is NOT a selfish act! Take time for yourself whether it be taking a walk, or just reading a book. You’re doing something that makes you feel happy or accomplished.

What are your plans after graduation?
After graduation I want to find a job that fits my career goals, as well as seeking my master’s degree in college counseling.
