Edlin Mercedes Hernandez
Class Status: Junior
Major: Psychology Major
Campus Programs/Involvements: I am involved with Transfer To Success (TTS) and Through and Two. TTS has been great and very supportive. I am very happy to be part of the program. The Through and Two Program has also been amazing, and Ms. Tanja is really helpful and supportive as well.
Career/Personal Goals: My career goal would ultimately be to become a Child Psychologist or a Drug and Alcohol Counselor. I just want to help out my community in the best way possible. Also, most importantly be established enough to where my parents do not have to work anymore and I could finally take care of them.
Hobbies: My hobbies are watching Netflix, baking and spending time with my family.
How has TTS helped you?
TTS has helped me to be more confident in myself, not be shy to ask any questions, or be afraid to ask for help.
What keeps you motivated and positive throughout life’s hardships?
What keeps me motivated is my family, especially being first generation going to college. Also, my little cousin Michelle, I want to be her mentor and show her that you can do anything you set your mind too.
What advice would you like to give to your fellow scholars?
The advice that I would like to give my fellow scholars is not to be so hard on yourself, take your time, and to just appreciate the little things in life because life is so short to be stressing out. We just need to breathe and everything will be just fine.
What are your plans after graduation?
My plans after graduation are...wow that is a hard one for me. I am still debating if I want to go to graduate school or just start my career, but I am leaning more towards going to graduate school because I want to continue to be even more successful. I want to be that role model for my little cousin and have my family be more proud of me.
