How has the STEM Program helped you?
STEM scholars has helped me tremendously with staying on track. Before this program, I had a hard time in my classes and I did not know who to reach out to. Luckily Noemi reached out to me and told me about this program :). The STEM Scholars advisors are very helpful and they want to see you do well in your classes. They have been a big help in sharing the right resources I need.
What keeps you motivated and positive throughout life’s hardships?
The person who keeps me motivated and has helped me through my hardships is my boyfriend, Osvaldo. He has been with me through my hardships and has sacrificed a lot to help me out. Without him pushing me and motivating me, I truly would have dropped out of college. Osvaldo is the reason why I am still in school and I have my motivation again. I couldn’t have gotten this far without him.
What advice would you like to give to your fellow scholars?
What I have learned from my past experiences is behind every failure comes a lesson. You can make a lot of mistakes and fail many times, but as long as you come back from it and learn from your experience, then it can lead you to success.
What are your plans after graduation?
After graduation, I plan to go to school to get my veterinarian technician certification and continue gaining hands on experience through my job at the animal hospital. Hopefully by the time I do receive my certificate I will have enough experience to work with wild animals at a zoo or aquarium.
